Pastor Kyapo (Kiap) Trakalowa was called by God to Boroko in 1990 from Baeyer River in the PNG Highlands to minister with his family (Elizabeth, Princess, Mary, Kiap & Anjiame) to transient Engan tribes-people resettling in Port Moresby.

Since 1993, Gateway Australia began working with Pastor Kiap Trakaloa in the Vada Vada slums within Port Moresby. In November 2003 Pastor Kiap Trakaloa began working full-time with Gateway Christian Churches (PNG) Inc.

In January 2004 he began a church from his home in Boroko, which has grown from a dozen people to over 150 adults and over 90 children, from the surrounding settlements.

Community development support through Gateway has also enabled many people in the church to read the bible once again.

In 2006, Gateway planted another church in the highland town of Goroka.

Nestled in the Eastern Highlands province, Gateway Goroka is led by Ps Wai Ketan and team. It has a strong ministry to youth and some of the local villages and settlement slums.

In 2007, a third Gateway church began in the settlement of Moitaka, Port Moresby!

Positioned in the flight path of Port Moresby’s international airport, Gateway Moitaka ministers to an area of over 5,000 people who have settled in the slum from all parts of PNG.

Gateway PNG’s newest church, Gateway Lae is led by Ps Aming Sowage and team. Located just outside of the main town centre, Gateway Lae has a strong discipleship ministry, particularly to Engan and Motu peoples.
